Es un alquil poliglucósido: se hace uniendo alcoholes grasos del coco con glucosa de origen vegetal. No tiene carga, irrita poco y se acepta en cosmética natural certificada. La materia prima es muy alcalina, por eso siempre hay que bajar el pH del producto final.It is an alkyl polyglucoside, made by joining coconut fatty alcohols with plant glucose. It carries no charge, is low-irritation and is accepted in certified natural cosmetics. The raw material is very alkaline, so the finished product’s pH must always be brought down.

Los porcentajes son del glucósido tal como viene (cerca de 50 % de materia activa). En un champú cuenta la materia activa: 15 % de glucósido aporta unos 7,5 % de activo. Como secundario, el fabricante sugiere no pasar de 10 %.The percentages are for the glucoside as supplied (about 50% active matter). In a shampoo, count the active matter: 15% glucoside gives about 7.5% active. As a secondary surfactant, the maker suggests staying at or below 10%.
Cómo se usaHow to use it
- Mézclalo con el agua y los demás tensioactivos, despacio para no hacer espuma.Mix it with the water and the other surfactants, slowly so it does not foam.
- Si es el tensioactivo principal, espesa la fase acuosa con una goma (por ejemplo, xantana), porque por sí solo deja el producto aguado.If it is the main surfactant, thicken the water phase with a gum (for example, xanthan), because on its own it leaves the product runny.
- Baja el pH con ácido cítrico poco a poco y mide: para un champú, entre 4,5 y 6.Lower the pH with citric acid a little at a time and measure: for a shampoo, between 4.5 and 6.
- Agrega el conservante al final: el glucósido no trae conservante.Add the preservative at the end: the glucoside contains none.

- Sin ajustar el pH, el producto queda muy alcalino e irrita: mídelo siempre.Without pH adjustment the product stays very alkaline and irritates: always measure it.
- En frío puede verse turbio; se aclara al calentarlo un poco y no afecta su función.It can look cloudy when cold; it clears with gentle warming and works just the same.
- Como secundario puede bajar un poco la viscosidad del champú.As a secondary surfactant it can lower the shampoo’s viscosity a little.
