Es un éter de glicol, líquido y transparente. Se disuelve en agua en pequeñas cantidades, y también en glicerina y en alcohol. Es muy eficaz contra bacterias; contra hongos y levaduras funciona mejor si lo acompañas con otro conservante.It is a clear, liquid glycol ether. It dissolves in water in small amounts, and also in glycerin and alcohol. It is very effective against bacteria; against mould and yeast it works better alongside another preservative.

En la UE el fenoxietanol está permitido hasta 1 % en el producto final. No lo pases.In the EU phenoxyethanol is allowed at up to 1% in the finished product. Do not go over it.
Cómo se usaHow to use it
- Agrégalo cuando el producto baje de 60 °C, antes o después de emulsionar.Add it once the product is below 60 °C, before or after emulsifying.
- Si tu fórmula tiene poca agua, disuélvelo primero en un poco de glicerina.If your formula has little water, dissolve it first in a little glycerin.
- Mezcla bien y mide el pH.Mix well and check the pH.
- Si el frasco está muy frío puede ponerse espeso o cristalizar: entíbialo un poco antes de pesar.If the bottle is very cold it may thicken or crystallise: warm it slightly before weighing.

- Solo no cubre bien hongos y levaduras: combínalo, por ejemplo, con benzoato de sodio o sorbato en productos ácidos.On its own it does not cover mould and yeast well: combine it, for example, with sodium benzoate or sorbate in acidic products.
- Máximo 1 % según la normativa de la UE.Maximum 1% under EU rules.
- Puro irrita los ojos: usa lentes y guantes.Undiluted, it irritates the eyes: wear goggles and gloves.
- Sin una prueba de reto (challenge test), da una vida corta a los productos con agua.Without a challenge test, give water-based products a short shelf life.
