Combina alcohol bencílico con benzoato de sodio y sorbato de potasio. El benzoato y el sorbato se activan en medio ácido y cubren sobre todo hongos y levaduras; el alcohol bencílico ayuda contra las bacterias.It combines benzyl alcohol with sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate. Benzoate and sorbate become active in acidic conditions and mainly cover mould and yeast; benzyl alcohol helps against bacteria.

Ajusta la cantidad según el tipo de producto: los que tienen más agua o extractos suelen necesitar la parte alta del rango.Adjust the amount to the product: those with more water or plant extracts usually need the upper end of the range.
Cómo se usaHow to use it
- Agrégalo a la fase acuosa o al final, cuando el producto baje de 40 °C.Add it to the water phase or at the end, once the product is below 40 °C.
- Mezcla bien para que quede repartido en todo el producto.Mix well so it is spread through the whole product.
- Mide el pH y llévalo a 5,5 o menos con unas gotas de ácido cítrico o láctico disuelto.Check the pH and bring it to 5.5 or lower with a few drops of dissolved citric or lactic acid.
- Anota el lote y la fecha, y guarda una muestra para ver cómo cambia.Write down the batch and date, and keep a sample to see how it changes.

- La tienda indica pH 3–6,5, pero el benzoato y el sorbato pierden fuerza rápido por encima de 5,5. Para ir a la segura, quédate en 5,5 o menos.The shop gives pH 3–6.5, but benzoate and sorbate lose strength quickly above 5.5. To be safe, stay at 5.5 or lower.
- En productos neutros (pH 6–7) queda mal protegido: elige otro conservante.Neutral products (pH 6–7) will be poorly protected: choose another preservative.
- Algunos ingredientes no iónicos (como los polisorbatos) pueden restarle fuerza al benzoato: haz una prueba pequeña.Some non-ionic ingredients (such as polysorbates) can weaken benzoate: make a small test first.
- Sin una prueba de reto (challenge test) en laboratorio, da una vida corta a los productos con agua.Without a lab challenge test, give water-based products a short shelf life.
- No lo uses en productos con vitamina C (ácido ascórbico): lleva benzoato, y juntos pueden formar benceno.Do not use it in products with vitamin C (ascorbic acid): it contains benzoate, and together they can form benzene.
