Lo esencialThe essentials
Qué esWhat it is
It is the sodium salt of hyaluronic acid, a long sugar chain the skin makes naturally. In water it swells into a gel. It does not dissolve in oils. It adds moisture to a formula and leaves a soft, non-greasy feel.

| ParaFor | % | CantidadAmount |
|---|---|---|
| Cremas y locionesCreams and lotions | 0,1 %0.1% | |
| Sérum ligeroLight serum | 0,3 %0.3% | |
| Gel hidratanteMoisturising gel | 0,5 %0.5% | |
| Gel espesoThick gel | 1 %1% |
These figures are for the powder. If you first make a 1% solution (1 g of powder in 99 g of preserved water), use 10–50% of that solution: it equals 0.1–0.5% powder. The shop gives up to 2%, but above 1% the gel gets very thick.
Cómo se usaHow to use it
Weigh the powder on a 0.01 g scale: the amounts are very small.
Mix it first with a little glycerin into a paste; this stops it clumping.
Add the water little by little while mixing fast (stick blender or mini whisk). If it is lumpy, cover it, leave it a few hours in the fridge and mix again.
Add the gel or solution at the end, when the formula is cool or warm.
Do not add more powder once it has thickened: there is no free water left to dissolve it.

Cuidado conWatch out for
With water it spoils easily: the gel or solution always needs a preservative.
Si lo calientas, que sea poco tiempo y sin pasar de 70 °C.Long heating breaks it down and the gel loses body. If you heat it, keep it short and below 70 °C.
In emulsions a little is enough: up to 0.2%. Higher levels are for gels and serums.
Keep the powder tightly closed in a cool, dark place.
