Es trimetilglicina, un pequeño compuesto parecido a un aminoácido que las plantas (como la remolacha) usan para no perder agua. En polvo es cristalina y blanca, y se disuelve fácil en agua. Ayuda a la piel y al pelo a retener humedad. No confundir con la betaína de coco, que es un tensioactivo.It is trimethylglycine, a small amino-acid-like compound that plants (such as beet) use to hold on to water. As a powder it is white and crystalline, and it dissolves easily in water. It helps skin and hair hold moisture. Do not confuse it with cocamidopropyl betaine, which is a surfactant.

- No es un tensioactivo: no limpia ni hace espuma. Para eso está la betaína de coco.It is not a surfactant: it does not clean or foam. That is what cocamidopropyl betaine is for.
- Absorbe humedad del aire: guárdala bien cerrada, en un lugar fresco y seco.It absorbs moisture from the air: keep it tightly closed in a cool, dry place.
- Una fórmula con agua necesita conservante.A water-based formula needs a preservative.
